Homesteaded in 1874 by English gentleman M. T. C. Merritt, this luxurious 12,000 square foot, eight-bedroom country villa is situated on a hill overlooking a vast expanse of lawn leading down to Alexander Lake.  There are four total fireplaces; two stone, two brick, and numerous Jacuzzi tubs. It boasts wraparound porches. The 8 luxurious bedrooms and suites range from 122 to 986 square feet and have Internet and phone hookups.

Charter House features The Great Hall for dining and special events (seats 100). The hall is 1122 square feet, has 18 foot ceilings and two stone fireplaces from the estate, one which has 30 tons of stone. There is a wonderful view of Lake Alexander.
